Chris 'Doc Vox' Coucouvinis has what he calls an 'elastic' voice.
So, by MS Word's definition:
e-las-tic n
1. able to return quickly to its original shape and size after being bent, stretched, or squashed
2. able to incorporate changes or adapt to new circumstances easily
3. made of elastic
Chris was born in Canberra, ACT, and he was only there for his first 3 years before he moved to Jakarta, Indonesia. On Indonesian soil he attended an international school predominantly populated by Americans, so that's where the strong Neutral American accent was born. Speech patterns were shaped and changed becoming his mothers living linguistic nightmare (Brits were always her cup of tea).
Accents were always a focus for Chris, conscious of his melting pot lifestyle. Home life provided the British and Australian comedy and drama, while school uncovered the American influences, Indonesian cultures and other worldly interests.
Having been back in Sydney for 12 years now, Chris has formulated a number of characters, impressions and accents to compliment his passion for acting, performance, presenting and voice manipulation.
He's especially good with variations of American from Californian to Texan to the New Yorker, as well as Scottish, Irish, Indian, English (R.P., Cockney), German, South American, Australian and more!
Chris loves all types of reads, thoroughly immersing himself into every role he is asked to play whether it be hard or soft sell, prestige, corporate or comedy. His love of acting has seen him on stage at the Darlinghurst Theatre, where he has completed all 4 Levels of acting training.
But lets get down to business with some credentials. He's presented on Australian radio for 7 years with SBS, Alchemy (nation wide) and FBi (Sydney), and currently hosts Monday and Tuesday mornings on FBi 94.5. He also presented the Cybershack Radio Show that was syndicated to over 250 college radio stations across the US, and has starred in radio plays at the Rose Seidler House and The Speigeltent for Sydney Festival.
He regularly emcee's events with CC Entertainment, and for Platform 31 in Manly @ The Steyne, a weekly event that showcases new bands. He has also hosted the Marrikville Festival, The Surry Hills Film Festival and Cut & Paste 2007 in Sydney.
Taking a huge interest in music and the recording process, Chris successfully completed his study at SAE Institute in 2005 qualifying him as an Audio Engineer and now produces music, radio plays and deejays around Sydney.
He's now acquired some healthy stats for his voice over career, recently working with Warner Bros on the revival of The Banana Splits as the voice of Drooper.
He narrated an 11 part award winning extreme sports documentary series called High-5 produced by IMG Media (now showing on ONE HD), and Sixty 40 brought Chris on board to create and voice 5 different characters in an animation called The Eduganda Panda Show Show.
He has also voiced for Jack Daniels, Avaaz, M & M's, ARN, R 'n' B Superclub, Commonwealth Bank, Star City, AusStereo, Nova 96.9, and MediaWiz to name a few.
