Melinda G Poile has spent over 20 years preparing for the best career position possible, owner & director of Blah Artist Management, a position she relishes as much today as at its inception 13 years ago. Believing we are the fusion of our experiences and values, those years of preparation served Melinda well. Working with many talented visionaries in TV Production, Recording Studios, Radio Stations & Radio Marketing – and having a blast at the same time, with some great stories she can share and some, well... not so much – helped shape Melinda and her business ethos.
Several mentors have inspired Melinda on this journey & one such person is the legendary Ron Scott, a pioneer of the Australian Voice industry. Ron started the very first voice agency in Australia in 1978 in order to represent his son, our very own Keith Scott, and a handful of other artist. With Ron’s passion & Keith’s skill, Keith went on to become one of Australia’s most in demand voices and forged a path into the American market as the voice of the Narrator in Disney’s blockbuster “GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE” and the voice of Bullwinkle in the Universal hit feature film “THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY & BULLWINKLE” working alongside such luminaries as Whoopi Goldberg, Robert DeNiro, Billy Crystal and Jason Alexander. Ron was an absolute trailblazer, but he is also one heck of a nice guy.
The attributes shared by these mentors that resonate with Melinda’s core values are integrity, passion, desire, drive, warmth, humanity, humility and not just being great at what they do but being great at who they are. It is the culmination of these experiences that have had a profound effect on Melinda’s ideologies and philosophies and have become her vision for Blah. A belief that you need to connect with people, have an honest customer service focus, positively motivate those around you, have passion and drive, strive to be your best and importantly, enjoy the journey you are on - as we are all on it together. These thoughts are echoed in the words of über-entrepreneur Sir Richards Branson, “a business has to be involving, it has to be fun & it has to exercise your creative instincts”.
Melinda's daily mantra is to be able to effectively lead and motivate her Blah team to collectively contribute to creating a successful environment and deliver great service - we are only the sum of all of our parts - to make everyday as rich, rewarding, enjoyable and fulfilling as possible. “My general attitude to life is to enjoy every minute of every day. I never do anything with a feeling of ‘Oh god, I’ve got to do this today!’" Amen Sir Richard, nor does Melinda.
Sandi Jeney is a fabulous addition to the Blah team. She fits like a glove to the Blah philosophy of happy & fast personal service that we pride ourselves on. With a background in account management & business administration, Sandi is across all aspects and has a passion for casting briefs, both voice & on screen.
Sandi has been with Blah for 3 years, well almost 3 years, except for the few months we had to allow her to organise her own lifelong dream of travelling through Europe.
Before coming to Blah Sandi was at DAT Studios co-ordinating bookings & running the day to day operations of the recording studio. Sandi has also been PA for a Production Company & within that job description assisted on set, organised props & even set dressed, each of these roles enhancing her knowledge in these different aspects of the industry.
Sandi has always been interested in the entertainment industry, an avid Movie goer, Sandi loves seeing the outcome of hard work from the beginning. Sandi gets a great sense of satisfaction knowing she has helped our many clients get the perfect Voice to promote their brand whether it is a Voice Over for TV, Radio, Corporate or any of the many other mediums. Sandi has a great knack for casting whether it is for Voice or Acting!
Having an innate rapport with people, even over the phone, Sandi makes a personal connection, forming trusted & professional relationships.
Loving the challenge and the fabulous atmosphere of working with the Blah Artists, Studios and Producers, Sandi has always loved Voices & characters and not just the ones in her head…
Bre Turnbull has a wonderful blend of creative ability & organisational skill. As a dancer growing up in a creative environment with a budding circus performer younger brother, cinematographer father & makeup artist/production manager mother, the family home was regularly converted into a film set where models, dancers & actors were transformed into an array of interesting characters. It’s no wonder Bre excelled in Visual Arts last year when completing her HSC.
Her exceptional organisational ability & communication skills were also apparent early on. From age 11 to 15 Bre ran (yes from the family home!) a free community dance school she called “Go with the Flow” to encourage neighbourhood children to ‘have fun with dance & learn some new moves’. Bre choreographed routines, organised music, props, sets, costumes & enlisted friends to crew end of year concerts. Bre then edited a video & made DVD’s for the children! All this whilst most teenagers were sleeping in! Bre has maturity and intuitiveness that belies her years with freshness & enthusiasm that illuminates them.
